Online Surveys

2006 Online Agent Survey
The 2006 County Extension Agent Web-Based Tobacco Survey was developed in December 2006. This questionnaire is targeted towards county extension agents in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Extensions agents were asked to provide detailed information about tobacco production in their respective counties. Covering four types of tobacco—burley, flue cured, dark-air, and dark-fire—the question format is very similar to the 2006 Burley Tobacco Survey. The difference is that the same questions are asked for each type of tobacco. The questionnaire primarily covers production in 2006.

2007 Online Agent Survey
An online survey of Extension agents in tobacco producing states was fielded in November 2007.  The objective of the survey was to gather information from county agents about tobacco production in their counties.  This information helped inform the design of the mail-based survey of current and former tobacco growers that was conducted in the first quarter of 2008.  The major areas of the online survey cover current production, future production expectations, post-buyout trends and production limitations.
An invitation to participate in the online survey was sent to approximately 390 county Extension agents in the following states: FL, GA, IN, KY, MD, MO, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, WI and WV.
